Healthy nails are not just about aesthetics; they are a vital component of foot care and important for maintaining healthy feet: Unaddressed nail issues can get worse, cause pain, get infected, or even lead to other issues. For example, if your nails get too long or become ingrown, it can alter your gait, which can then cause joint and muscle pain.
Healthy, properly trimmed nails and smooth supple skin on your feet also reduces your risk of acquiring a variety of foot conditions, from fungal infections to ingrown toenails, and can ultimately significantly improve the quality of your life. Therefore, nail and skin care for the feet is essential for preventing and treating many foot-related issues.
All treatments from a chiropodist are performed using medical grade products and a fresh set of sterilized instruments for each client. The sterilization process used by chiropodists will remove and kill all microorganisms such as fungi, bacteria, viruses, and spores. We also thoroughly cleanse your feet with an alcohol solution at the beginning of every appointment.
Our nail services are typically pain-free. In fact, many clients will leave an appointment feeling much more comfortable than when they arrived.
At Feet First Clinic, our nail services include:
These services promote healthy toenails. In addition to hygiene, our nail care services can help prevent various foot issues and provide the opportunity to detect and address any abnormalities in their early stages – before they become a problem. Treatment involves proper trimming and filing of the toenails as well as addressing any significant medical findings and complaints of pain, and education on toenail care and how to prevent complications. Our skilled chiropodists can also care for the skin on your feet during your nail care appointment. For more information, check out our medical pedicure service.
Please note: we only treat toenails – we do not treat fingernails or provide manicures.
These services treat nail issues like ingrown toenails, thickened toenails, discoloured toenails, nail fungus, cracked toenails, etc. Such procedural services include:

To receive any of our nail care services, contact our office to book an appointment with one of our skilled chiropodists – no referral is required.
When you book your appointment, indicate whether you are seeking preventative nail care and maintenance, or if you have a specific concern or issue you would like treated. This information will help us determine how long your appointment should be.
At your appointment, the chiropodist will assess and treat your toenails. Depending on the reason for your visit and any underlying concerns, a full foot assessment may be performed. The chiropodist will also provide nail care advice, education on how to prevent complications or reoccurrence of any issues, and recommendations for follow-up and future maintenance.
Our nail care services are not covered by OHIP; however most private extended health benefits will cover chiropodist services. Each insurance company has their own stipulations about what and how much they will cover.
If you are unsure about your benefits and coverage for chiropodist services, you can contact your insurance company directly, or check with your employer’s HR department to receive a breakdown of your policy.
We recommend verifying your benefits coverage directly with your insurance company prior to your appointment.
